Planning a wedding is exciting—but it doesn't have to break the bank. At My Tiny Exmoor Wedding, we believe that small, thoughtful celebrations are not only meaningful but manageable too. Here's how to plan your dream micro wedding in Exmoor while staying within budget.

1. Choose an all-in-one venue

What saves the most money?

Avoid hiring a separate venue, accommodation, and reception space. Our thatched cottage, Pilgrim Corner, offers a magical setting for your ceremony, photographs, and overnight stay—all in one place.

 How we help:

  • No separate venue hire fee

  • A dedicated Celebrant who provides support and guidance as you plan your vows

  • Indoor and outdoor ceremony options

  • Accommodation for couples and guests in our two adjacent cottages

  • We throw in lots of extras that many venues don’t offer.

2. Keep the guest list tiny and meaningful

A micro wedding typically includes 2–20 guests.

Benefits:

  • Lower catering and drink costs

  • More personal and relaxed atmosphere

Top tip to save more:

At My Tiny Exmoor Wedding, if you book Pilgrim Corner for up to eight guests, including the couple, means no additional hire costs for furniture and tableware.

Top tip to save more:

Book a mid-week three-night stay out of season (think November, early December, January, February and March). Ask your guests to pay for their room. We can break down the cost of each room for you. Pay in monthly instalments to spread the cost.

3. Simplify food and drink

Skip the three-course formal meal. Consider:

  • A celebratory afternoon tea in the cottage garden

  • A grazing platter from a local caterer

  • We can recommend budget-friendly local caterers

  • Bring-your-own drinks – there’s no corkage fee!

Top tip to save more:

As the cottages are self-catering with well-equipped kitchens, why not do it yourself? Involve your guests. After all, it’s fun to cook together.

4. Flowers

Fresh florals certainly add impact and elegance to a tiny wedding, so we are lucky to have local award-winning florist Aizel Finch work with us. See her budget-conscious Mini Bridal Entourage designed specifically for MyTinyExmoorWedding, which uses seasonal flowers, many of which she grows herself. Alternatively, how about:

  • A florist bucket from Aizel to create five jam jars at £50

  • A single bouquet and buttonhole.

  • Dried or paper flowers (which last forever!)

  • Garden-picked greenery in jam jars (we can help)

Top tip to save more:

We offer props and styling options to help you decorate your day affordably.

5. Prioritise what matters

The beauty of a tiny wedding is that instead of spending big on everything, you can choose one or two key priorities—maybe that’s a photographer, videographer or fresh flowers. Then save elsewhere using our top tips.

Other ways to save:

  • Book a photographer for 1–2 hours, not a full day

  • Rent, re-wear an outfit or buy pre-loved

  • Do your own makeup and hair

  • Self-cater.

Top tip to save more:

When planning your wedding, think about what will make you and your closest friends and family happy. Don’t be seduced by social media images of ‘must-haves’ at weddings that add to the cost but not to the experience.

6. Tap into our local knowledge

We live and work on Exmoor, and we know the best suppliers, many of whom offer micro-wedding or weekday discounts. Our Complete Coordination Package includes us researching suppliers and negotiation on your behalf, if you prefer. And because you pay them directly, you can be reassured that we do not mark up the fees vendors charge.
